Velvet, universally associated with wealth and glamour, comes from Surat in Gujarat and from Bombay. Its various forms, such as flock velvet and velour, are used for curtains as well as for uphoistery. Rich dark colours and drama and help to block the harsh topical sunlight. Most Indians use jacquard for uphoistery, and this comes mainly from Haryana, between Delhi and the Punjab, or from the South.
